If you have seen the John Wayne movie of the same title there will be no major changes in the story (the end is a little different and better if sadder). I've now read all three of John Birmingham's Axis of Time novels -- which amount to one long novel, so don't start at #3! These are real page turners (or button pushers). It's always staring at me on theshelf in the bookstore.
